ECOMMERCE / MEDUSA

Medusa online store design and development

We build online stores with Medusa for brands that need a custom experience, integrations, and commerce operations that can evolve.

What you get

The result the client can interact with, not the stack underneath.

Your ecommerce store should help customers buy and also make it possible to operate the business. At ia¹, we design the catalog, product, cart, and checkout experience, and develop the commerce foundation with Medusa. We review how payments, shipping, and internal systems will connect before defining the scope. The intended result is a store with a consistent customer experience and clear processes for your team.

What exactly it is

Technical definition—for Google, ChatGPT, and your CTO.

Medusa is a commerce platform with a modular architecture and APIs that lets you build an independent storefront and adapt workflows and integrations. Its modules cover commerce capabilities such as products, pricing, inventory, carts, orders, and payments. The visual experience, providers, and integrations are developed and configured for each project. Choosing Medusa means having technical operations in place for hosting, updates, and support.

How ia¹ implements it

Dx1 + More2 + Rt3 → sustainable advantage.

We first define the catalog, variants, business rules, and shopping journeys. We design and validate the experience, configure the commerce backend, and connect compatible providers. Integrations with ERP, logistics, or invoicing systems are scoped and tested separately. We validate purchase scenarios, issues, and operations before launch. When a project needs guides or a blog, Sanity can manage editorial content; Medusa remains responsible for the catalog, inventory, and orders.

Frequently asked questions

What we’re asked most often.

Who is a Medusa store right for?
For businesses that need a custom shopping experience, integrations, or business rules that justify a custom-built solution. A budget and people responsible for technical operations are also required. If you’re looking to quickly launch a simple store with minimal infrastructure management, we’ll compare alternatives before recommending Medusa.
Does it include payments and shipping in Mexico?
We assess your providers and requirements before committing to an integration. Compatibility, module availability, and development work vary. The proposal should identify providers, test environments, third-party fees, and scenarios to validate. We don’t assume that every payment gateway, carrier, or invoicing service is compatible.
Can you connect Medusa to my ERP or inventory system?
Integrations may be possible when systems offer suitable access and interfaces. First, we review APIs, owners, data, frequency, and error handling. We agree on which system is the source of truth for each data point and test reconciliation. This assessment determines the scope; choosing Medusa alone does not mean an integration is included.
Can you migrate an existing store?
We can assess a commerce migration, but it requires a specific scope. This includes reviewing products, variants, URLs, customers, orders, and integrations, and defining what needs to be transferred. Testing takes place in a separate environment, with reconciliation and a rollback plan. Payment credentials and other sensitive data are not copied indiscriminately.
Does Medusa eliminate all platform costs?
No. You should consider development, hosting, storage, external services, payment fees, and maintenance. The proposal breaks these items out so you can compare the total cost of operations. The ability to customize and control the architecture does not mean a store has no costs or need for technical support.
Can Medusa be combined with Sanity?
Yes, when a project needs independent editorial operations. Sanity can manage articles, guides, and other content; Medusa manages commerce operations. We connect them according to the scope and keep their responsibilities distinct. Orders, customers, and private data do not become public editorial content.
